Johnny Garcia is a lifelong resident of San Antonio who was raised by a strong mother in a working-class household, where he learned that if he wanted a better life, he’d have to earn it through hard work, discipline, and service.

 

While attending St. Phillip’s Community College, Johnny worked construction jobs to grind out a better future, the only way he knew how – hard work and education. At 21, he answered the call to serve and joined the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, eventually serving as a hostage negotiator for the Sheriff’s SWAT Team. There he learned how to handle high-pressure, life-or-death situations with calm, clarity, and compassion – skills that define real leadership. Today, Johnny still serves as a senior officer  for Sheriff Javier Salazar, who has endorsed Johnny’s campaign. 

 

An old school Democrat, Johnny is stepping up to fight for working Texans like his mom and fellow Deputies on patrol, because when working families are put first, Texas prospers. In Congress, Johnny will put those working families first, fighting to make healthcare accessible, to improve our education system, and make life more affordable for every Texan.
